Fishing

ANGLERS are well and truly hooked on trout and coarse fishing which is part of an on-going programme to provide country pursuits by Oak Royal.

But don’t worry, you won’t have to wear safety helmets to protect yourselves from wayward golf balls because the two purpose-built lakes are located out of the line of fire and are is not an integral part of the course.
The waters are well stocked and several specimen catches are regularly reported.
Fly fishing platforms surround the trout lake and, due to popular demand, plans are in the pipeline to enlarge the coarse facility, which contains carp, roach, perch and tench.
And as a special lure for game fishermen, the club chef will prepare and cook your catch!
You don’t have to be a member of the golf club to pursue the sport. In fact, there is a separate entrance on Bolton Road, Abbey Village, for anglers where they check in for permits at the Fishing Lodge which has catering and toilet amenities.
